IMDB rating: 6.20 Plot: Paul “Wrecking” Crewe was a revered football superstar back in his day, but that time has since faded. But when a messy drunk driving incident lands him in jail, Paul finds he was specifically requested by Warden Hazen (James Cromwell), a duplicitous prison official well aware of Paul’s athletic skills. Paul has been assigned the task of assembling a team of convicts, to square off in a big football game against the sadistic guards. With the help of fellow convict Caretaker, and an old legend named Nate Scarborough to coach, Crewe is ready for what promises to be a very interesting game. Need help with a dream about a wandering group of folks wearing long red robes …?
I had this dream over a week ago and my mind isn’t letting it go. It was extremely vivid though the precise details have faded since. There was a group of people at some sort of meeting of which I was a part, and another separate group of people joined us. They all wore full-length red robes with hoods though the hoods were not covering their heads. They all carried bags with handles with logs in them. During the meeting, they would occasionally (singly or together) chant words in response to what was said … and the words they chanted had nothing to do with what had been said. In the dream, this intrigued me. After the meeting, everyone went outside and talked within smaller groups and I talked with whoever it was I knew and was with in the dream. We talked about who they could be and they let it be known with their sing-song chanting who and what they were. I watched them … longingly, I knew, because I wanted what they had (the wandering, the faith, the certainty, the whole nine yards). One of the robed men (with dirty blonde shoulder-length hair hair and a very pleasant and open face) ‘released’ his most recent student into the robed group as a whole and approached me and stood before me. He asked if I wished to become his next ’student’ and that it would include learning, laughing and crying together. He finished with the statement, ‘the only requirement is that you need me more than I need you.’ He stopped and waited for my reply and I nodded slowly while considering the offer, wondering whether I could ever measure up to whatever preconceptions he had about me, if any. And then the dream ended. Wow. Help!
